SURVEY OF BUSINESS
Course Description
Survey of Businessis a two-semester course. It is designed to introduce students to business and marketing programs of study and related technology to helpstudents succeed in business and marketing careers. The clusters and related programs of study are: Business Management & Administration: Management,Medical Office Administration, and Office Administration; Finance: Accounting, Banking, andBusiness Finance; Hospitality and Tourism: Hospitality and Tourism;Marketing, Sales and Service: MarketingBusiness Enterprise, Digital Marketing, and Retail Management;and Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics: SupplyChain and Logistics. Using industry-recognized software, students will focus on skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentations, and cloudcomputing as they relate to business and marketing careers. This course will focus on skillsneeded to obtain Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications.
Standard 1: Determine and discuss the value of professionalism and involvement in professional, academic, and leadership activities, and identify the career clusters related to business and marketing.
Standard 2: Understand computer hardware and software, and demonstrate safe online behavior.
Standard 3: Demonstrate effective use of word processing software to develop the skills needed to create business documents.
Standard 4: Demonstrate effective use of spreadsheet software.
Standard 5: Demonstrate effectie use of database software.
Standard 6: Demonstrate effective use of organizational and communication software.
Standard 7: Demonstrate effective use of presentation software.
Standard 8: Demonstrate effective us of cloud computing.
